Any Last Words?

Deathbed Quotes and Famous Farewells

By

Any Last Words? collects the last words of dozens of celebrities. Some are funny, some are touching, and some are heartbreaking. These last words give us a rare insight into the lives of these celebrities. As well as the focus on final words, the book also provides interesting facts about the lives and careers of some of the world’s most interesting actors, writers, artists, athletes, politicians, and even criminals. The book is sometimes irreverent, with a dark wit, but at it’s heart it is a celebration of the lives of its subjects and the mark that each of them left on the world.

Adventures in Cryptozoology

Hunting for Yetis, Mongolian Deathworms and Other Not-So-Mythical Monsters

By

Discover the science of (not so) imaginary creatures

Adventures in Cryptozoology is the perfect resource for the explorer who loves Josh Gates’s Expedition Unknown and Cryptozoology A to Z.

Explore the world through its most unlikely creatures: Cryptozoology, the study of hidden, monstrous, and legendary animals, is truly the art of discovering the unknown. Richard Freeman, Zoological Director of Centre for Fortean Zoology, has explored the corners of the five continents on the search for creatures that many people believe are non-existent. In this book, he shares the exciting stories of his investigations of the Yeti, Mongolian Deathworm, Loch Ness Monster, Orang-Pendak, Ninki-Naka, and more.

The line between myth and reality may be more narrow than you think: Cryptozoologists throughout the years have studied unknown species of reptiles, lake and sea creatures, apes, and hominins. The science and history of this field of study includes examples of creatures that were once thought to be mythological, but that have since been proven to exist.

Our monsters, ourselves: The history of fabulous beasts and our searches for them is a history of the cultures of the world and the secrets we keep.

If you’re ready to begin your search for Sasquatch and learn to hunt monsters, Adventures in Cryptozoology is your guide. In these pages you’ll find:

  • Tales of mythical, extinct, and out-of-place creatures
  • Hints about Bigfoot and other ape-men
  • And tips for equipping your own cryptozoology adventure, including all the gear, field craft, and resources you’ll need to record your findings

Hatch, Leap, Soar

Your 3-Steps to Total Fulfillment, Real Success and True Happiness

By

It is this focus on transformation that's at the heart of Hatch, Leap, Soar, the principles which will help individuals become who they are created to be. LaToyia likens the process to that of a baby bird inside an egg, ready to… Hatch. Before you can begin to change and start realizing your potential, you are in your comfort zone inside your shell. When you begin the process of hatching, you're defying the norm, pressing past your fears to break free. Once you've hatched, you can see the possibilities. You are now open to doing what you were created to do, being what you were created to be. You start to think, "Oh my gosh, as soon as I get out of here I can go over there and I can do this," because now you can see it. But in order to get out of your shell, you will have to make a... Leap. This might be a leap of faith. This could be a leap in a completely different direction than you've ever gone before. You have to move out of your current position, out of whatever comfort zone or shell you are in. It's important to have faith that you are better freed from your shell than you are stuck inside its borders. In order to reach the potential God has given you, you must move toward it. Things won’t come to you sitting in your shell. Opportunities and change won’t happen if you are sitting still. You have to leap or jump or move forward to experience what God wants for you. A bird never learns to fly by staying in the nest. A bird has to leap out in order to learn to… Soar. Once you learn to fly, you can fly high and soar. You can reach your potential.

The Gaslighting of the Millennial Generation

How to Succeed in a Society That Blames You for Everything Gone Wrong

By

Gaslighting is the psychological manipulation of making someone question their own sanity or the validity of their experiences. A combination of outright lies, denial of things that happened, and generally questioning the subject’s thought processes and conclusions boils down to the end result of thinking you’re wrong or crazy for feeling the way you do. At its core, it’s an emotional abuse tactic. Have you ever gotten into an argument with a parent, boss, or romantic partner about something that upset you, but by the end of the argument, you’ve become the one apologizing for some wrongdoing? This is often a result of gaslighting. They flip it around and become the victim, and your original feelings never get resolved because the conversation always descends into the other person’s victimization. Eventually you stop challenging them at all. Imagine a similar scenario where you are applying for a job, but the job requires a college degree, and you can’t pay for a college degree without a job so you end up taking out massive loans. When you graduate, you can’t get a job without experience. So, you take a minimum wage job (or three) to make ends meet, often while working for free in a field related to your major to get a foot in the door. You dare to utter something like, “the minimum wage needs to be raised, people can’t live like this,” only to receive a barrage of old, crotchety white people yelling at you about how they got a college education working part time and how it’s your fault for taking out the loans in the first place. Caitlin Fisher calls bullshit. Millennials are driven by a need to empower each other and become independent from the status quo. And it’s pissing off the establishment something fierce. Anecdotal evidence is great, but there’s also science to back up the whimsical empowerment driving the millennial generation. There are some 80 million Millennials, making us the largest cohort in history
